So it’s almost Valentine’s day, a special day to show our love and affection towards our significant other a little bit more than usual. We (Girl Gamer Galaxy) obviously like to celebrate Valentine’s Day the geeky way. No idea how to have a Geeky Valentine’s Day? No worries! We have some awesome ideas and tips for you!
Valentine cards
Valentine’s Day and romantic cards go together like chocolate chip cookies and milk. ‘They just belong together’. Of course these days we can share our romantic Valentine’s cards on social media. And guess what? The internet is filled with a whole lot of cute options. To make it even easier for you, we’ve made an entire gallery with all kinds of cute cards for you to share with your secret crush or beloved partner:
The fastest way to someone’s heart is through the stomach!
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So to start your Valentine’s Day properly, we recommend you plan the perfect morning meal in bed. This is a great way to show your love and affection. It is time to surprise your love with a homemade geeky breakfast. On the World Wide Web, you can find some pretty cool stuff, perfect for the occasion. For example, There are different kinds of toasters or waffle makers for the geekiest of geeks amongst us (Who doesn’t want some Pac-Man toast?!). Yoda green tea or a cappuccino decorated with some chocolate syrup in the shape of his or her favorite character makes the perfect Valentine’s breakfast beverage. Does your significant other prefer a cold drink in the morning? No worries, just take some red fruit juice and serve it in a nice bottle to make it look like a health potion.
Time for some entertainment
How you like to spend your Valentine’s Day is totally up to you. We like to spend it the more old-fashioned way and go to the cinema. Lucky for us there are some nice and geeky movies playing in theaters right now:
- Resident Evil The Final Chapter
- Assassin’s Creed
- Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them
- The Lego Batman Movie
For a short list of (upcoming) live-action movies based on anime or games take a look here.
Take your sweetheart to the Arcade!
If going to the cinema isn’t quite your cup of tea (because you prefer to actually play games together) then the arcade hall might be the spot for you. You can have some fun playing on the arcade machines against or (preferably) with your date. There are a lot of multiplayer games, so you can surely find some games you both enjoy. And if your arcade works with prices, you can set a goal to get enough points and work hard to win a lovely Valentine’s Day gift. This way you have your prices to remind you of your awesome day together.
Play your own game IRL
For all the creative people out there it could also be a cool idea to make your own game to play on Valentine’s Day. You can make some cards in Photoshop or Paint or draw them by hand. We suggest you add some questions on the cards to get to know each other just a little bit better. Questions like:
- If our life was a game, what game would it be?
- If you could live in a game for one day, what game would you pick?
- At what game do I kick your ass? And vice versa?
- What are my top 3 games?
We made some examples for you in the gallery below, in case you don’t have enough time or ideas to create your own. Go ahead and print these and use them during your Valentine’s Day date.
