First of all, let’s get something straight. We love gamers. That is no secret. And sometimes gamers meet other gamers and fall in love. One of the unique benefits of dating a fellow gamer is that it opens up a whole bunch of possibilities for fun activities both partners can enjoy. As a gaming couple, there are many fun activities you can do together to enhance your gaming experiences.
And even though female gamers see it as an added bonus to date other gamers, they are also fine with dating non-gamers. We know this for a fact. We took a poll on dating gamers: hot or not. So we made a list of possible gaming activities for couples, which you can also do with friends, family members or anyone whose company you enjoy. Now let’s get into it.
1. Visit your favorite gaming events
Not everyone can afford to go to gaming events. Some people live very remote, have a tight budget, or struggle to take time off from work. So this activity might take some planning and preparation. But there are a lot of options out there. There are gaming festivals, gaming conferences, e-sport events, anime conferences… They vary in price. Some take place during the week, if you work on weekends. And more events are becoming wheelchair accessible. So take the time to research events and have an unforgettable experience. And do not forget to read our tips on how to survive an event or convention to be better prepared.
2. Movie night or movie marathon
A more versatile idea is organizing a movie night or movie marathon. This takes a little less prep time. And if you are lucky, your local theater has movie marathons organized. Lately there have been a lot of movie options. It doesn’t matter if you are a Marvel fan, Dungeons and Dragons fan, World of Warcraft fan, Harry Potter fan. The options are endless, and to this day more and more movies are being made that are perfect for gaming and geeky couples.
3. Date night at the arcade
This one does not need any explanation at all. It’s been around forever and is a very fun activity that you can plan over and over again. In some countries it is very common to spend evenings in (airconditioned) arcades. There are endless videos of couples that have perfected arcade games or deliver on dancing games. Look up your local arcade. Some ask for an entrance fee and offer games for free, others are free entry but you do require coins to play the games. Whatever the case, get your calendars out and plan your next date night in the arcade.
4. Co-op game night
Some games offer co-op options, so you can play together as a couple. Explore games that allow you to play together as a team. Choose games that require teamwork, communication, and coordination to complete objectives or overcome challenges. Plan longer gaming sessions where you dedicate a whole day or weekend to playing games you both enjoy. Make sure to take breaks, stay hydrated, and have snacks nearby to keep your energy levels up. If you both enjoy competitive gaming, consider joining online leagues or competitions as a couple. Improving your skills together and taking on other gamers can be exciting. Don’t like co-op? You can take turns choosing the games and make it a regular event with snacks and beverages.
5. Cook your favorite game-inspired dish
Speaking of snacks and beverages. Maybe you do not consider cooking as an item in the list of fun gaming activities for couples, but hear me out. Do you have a favorite game in common that contains food for buffs or health? Why not spend the evening recreating it? The main focus should be on bonding and having fun with your partner. Don’t know where to get started? We have some recipes and recommended gaming cookbooks that could help get you inspired. A bonus would be cosplaying during dinner. It’s just you two, so you know you will not feel awkward. It doesn’t have to be perfect.
