Winter is coming and so is Christmas. It’s time for food, family and friends but also for some gifts, geekery and games. What type of geeky Christmas gifts will make us happy? Or at least put a smile on our faces? Here’s a small list with some fun stuff in different price ranges.
The Christmas sweater
Everybody needs an awesome Christmas sweater. And sorry (not sorry) grandma, yours might me knitted with love and care, but we rather receive a geeky/gaming related one. Lucky for us there are a lot of cool Christmas sweaters out there. What kind of do you say? Well think of the following themes: Star Wars, Star Trek, Deadpool, Super Mario, Zelda, Fallout, Street Fighter, Gremlins, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pokémon, Game of Thrones, Galaga, Batman and so on. We simply cannot choose! So forget about suiting up and take a look ook at these awesome examples:
Price category: affordable geekery
Geeklevel: pretty darn geeky
Where to buy: Merchoid, Amazon and almost every game store nearby you like Game Mania and GameStop
Figurines, go figure!
We geeks really like to display our geekery. So what better gift is there then a figurine of someones favourite game, comic, anime or movie character? Also known as: (designer) toys, collectibles or action figures. Ivey was pretty content with the Funko figurines she received from the Blizzard Gear website (Read more about it here). But if you really want to make the writer of this article happy (hint)… She is gazing at this Hulkbuster (Sixth Scale) figure right now. It’s only about 800 dollars… pretty please?
Price category: ranging from ‘affordable geekery’ to ‘you better get a second job!’
Geeklevel: Geek professional
Where to buy: ThinkGeek, Funko, MyPlasticHeart, Amazon, etc.
The ‘geeky’ Chef
Do you want to lure someone into the kitchen? Then you better give him or her some awesome kitchen appliances. Did you know that you can buy a Star Wars Waffle maker, a Star Trek enterprise pizza cutter, a Batman cutting board, Pokémon and Minecraft Cookie Cutters, LEGO salt and pepper shakers and a Deadpool knife block? No? Now you know.
Price category: ranging from ‘affordable geekery’ to ‘just got paid’
Geeklevel: Cooking up some Geek
Where to buy: ThisIsWhyImBroke, ThinkGeek & Amazon
Remote controlled stuff
‘Member‘ when you were a kid and you had a remote controlled car (if you were so lucky). Well it’s not just about the cars anymore! Nowadays we have small remote controlled boats, helicopters, blimps, tanks and drones. But what really gets our juices flowing is some remote controlled droids. Yes droids.. You know like BB8 and R2D2? Take a look at this video and see how the remote controlled force can be with you!
Price category: just got paid
Geeklevel: Master of Geekery
Where to buy: ThisIsWhyImBroke, ThinkGeek & Amazon
Well duh… videogames and accessories
Did you really think games, consoles and gaming accessories wouldn’t be on our Christmas gift list? Well think again. Of course they are. Your game-collection can never be to big. This year special attention goes out to the latest trend in gaming: Virtual Reality (VR). If you got money to spend and want to give the ultimate Christmas gift we suggest you give a Virtual Reality headset. The Oculus Rift, HTC Vive or some Playstation VR will do. Happy VR gaming!
Price category: This is why I am broke
Geeklevel: over 9000
Where to buy: Vive, Oculus, Playstation
To give and to get
We hope you are inspired enough to give some awesome geeky Christmas gifts. We also hope that you will receive some geeky Christmas gifts. If you do, don’t forget to post a picture of your gift(s) on our social media: Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Girl Gamer Galaxy wishes you geeks a happy Christmas!
