Join GirlGamerGalaxy in a six-week workout series
First off: No equipment needed. We want to make sure that the workouts are available for everyone, so it’s all bodyweight exercises. You do not need to spend any money or even leave the house. All you need is discipline and a little bit of motivation (and maybe some water, and sometimes a chair). Each week we will give some pointers if you want to make it harder for yourself, if the hardcore mode mentioned on the exercise sheet isn’t enough.
This week is designed as more of a beginner workout. Even if you’ve never done a workout in your life, you can get through this one (and we encourage you to start!). The first level is just one set of all the exercises. If you feel like the silhouettes on the sheet aren’t enough to tell you how you should perform the exercise, feel free to look them up on YouTube.
Are your ready? Than let’s dive into the first workout!
Story Part One – Let’s meet the Ranger
Deep in the Enchanted Forest lies the Elven town of Maenalian. You’ve reached this town after many days of travel, and the travel has worn you down. In the Inn you meet Varis Oakenvale, the mayor of the town. He asks you what you are doing in his town, for it is not a common place to be. “I am looking for someone”, you say. “Have you heard of Turvistel? The human mage, who used to live in the Emerald Tower?”. Varis shakes his head. “No, I’ve never heard of that name. But the Emerald tower is far from here. What brings you here?”.
You take a sip of your mead and glance around the room. The Inn is filled with Elves, eating, drinking, and just enjoying life. You wish you could do the same. “Turvistel took something from me. My plan is to hunt him down and end his reign for good. I am here to learn about some elven potions he uses. I was told that the ranger Fenmaris could tell me more about that”. At the mention of that name Varis grins. “I wouldn’t be so sure’, he says. “Fenmaris only speaks to other rangers. You’d have to prove you have the stamina and upper body strength to match him. Do you think you can do that?”. You nod. You are ready for the challenge. “Allright”, he says. “I will bring you to him in the morning. We will see what you are made of” …

We recommend doing this workout 2 to 3 times this week, but if you feel like once is enough for you, that is awesome, too.
Level up your Fitness
If you have a little more experience with working out and you want to challenge yourself, feel free to add to the exercises. You can add weights (dumbbells or anything you can use as weights. Yes, your cat work just as well.) or choose a different version of the same exercises:
Single Leg Deadlift – Add weigths or use an elastic band.
Mountain Climbers – Do this on your socks so you can slide even faster across the floor and try to increase the tempo. You can also choose to elevate your legs to increase the strain on your upper body.
Squats balance – Of course you can squat with added weights as well. Make sure that you go directly from the squat into the leg lift. You can change the leg lift to a side leg raise as well to tackle even more muscle groups.
Push-ups – Pick your own variation. If you feel strong like a Warrior class, feel free to do handstand push-ups, clap in between each push-up, do it with one hand, do triangle push-ups… the list of variations for this exercise is endless.
Leg raises – These are way harder if you do them elevated. Find something to lie down on, maybe the table. Make sure your buttocks is on the edge and your legs are hanging down.
Jumping Jacks – Not many ways to make this one harder, but you can always do burpees instead.
