Welcome back to the level up your fitness workout series! We are already in week 2 of our 6-week program and we are very excited you are still with us! This week we get to meet our second class: the Paladin. A little more core this week, but of course, a Paladin is basically a magic fighter class, so he has to be able to tank a bit and take bodyshots.
Progress in the workout series
This workout might feel a little harder than last weeks workout, but, if you’ve been properly preparing, you are getting stronger too! The first level of this workout should be suitable if you don’t have any experience. Our goal is to get everyone on board, not leaving you crying on the floor. Feel free to adapt exercizes if you need too. If you want to challenge yourself, we have some suggestions for you at the bodem of the post.
Story Part two – Let’s meet the Paladin
Finding a countermeassure
After leaving Maenalian and ranger Fenmaris, you are headed for the Silver Lakes. Fenmaris was impressed with your skills. And rightfully so, even after the long trip you had still been able to beat him in a fight, using the ranger skills he taught you that day. “I can see the determination in your eyes” Fenmaris had said. And he was right about that. Nothing will stop you from finding Turvistel and bringing him to justice. But there is still a long way to go.
Now you know about the elven potions, you could use them for yourself as well. But you still have to find an effective countermeasure. Fenmaris had suggested to travel to the Silver Lakes, to get help from a Paladin called Lothain. Maybe a hex or a spell would work? You can see the edges of the lake on the horizon. It isn’t far now.
The Silver Lakes
Upon entering the small village bordering the Silver Lakes, you are immidiately greeted by some of the women. As they try to sell their goods to you, you learn that Lothain is actually on the island in the middlle of the lake, to connect to his God. You pay one of the fisherman to get you across the lake, where you set out to find Lothain. You find him deeply in trance, and it takes him a while to break out of it. After waking up and listening to your story, he agees to help you. “Turvistel needs to be stopped, and you seem capable of stopping him”, he says. “However, to be able to cast the hexes needed to counteract the potions he is using, you need to learn how to control your breathing through hard exersize.”
You spend the next few days on the island, working on exercises that get your breathing up, while still having to breathe slowely…
You can find the full workout here for free. As an extra challenge this week, focus on controlling your breath. That means: breath in when going into te excersize and breath out on the return. When you have a moment of rest, take deep breathes to get your breathing under control quicker.
We recommend you doing this workout 2 to 3 times this week.
Challenge yourself.
Just as last week, we have some suggestions to make it even harder for you to complete the workout.
Bulgarian Split Squats
You can do them with weights as well, but just going lower with your squats will amp up the difficulty as well.
Bicycle Crunches
Go slower, pause for a second or two when your knee touches your elbow. You can also keep your legs off the ground for the whole exercize if you weren’t allready doing that.
Inch Worm
Do a push-up at the end before you go back to standing position.
Jump Squats
Instead of jump squats, do box jumps (only if you have something solid to jump on)
Superman
No variations here, but make sure you do it with correct form. .
Crab Walks
This is already hard as it is, but if you’re really crazy, put some weigth to it, or start doing jumps inbetween the walks!
