Kicking ass in an awesome first person shooter. Sounds pretty sweet right? Unfortunately this will probably never be me. Why? Because first person shooters (FPS) nauseate me. Almost every game with a first person view does, for that matter. Can I do something about it? Well, I have tried… obviously. Let me tell you about my attempts to fight gaming sickness. Spoiler-alert: They were not always that successful…

It’s Father’s Day and we at Girl Gamer Galaxy have decided to write a blog dedicated to the nerdy and geeky gamer dads out there. We have discussed endlessly about all the things that make us smile when we think about geeky gamer dads. Yes, say what you will about these guys. They can be immature or childish at times. Sometimes they even seem to forget that they are a parent. But today we wanted to share all the positive sides to having a gamer as a father or partner.
It’s been 84 years, or so it seems, since I was asked if I would like to write something about my experiences as a ‘geek mom’. Or should I say: a geek mom to be. So I jumped at the opportunity of course, but as a true procrastinator it took a while before anyone could see this blog *cough* 7 months later *cough*. It’s not that I didn’t want to tell other (expecting) moms about my experiences and thoughts about the matter. I even started writing this blog item a few times. It seemed so much fun to do and so easy. I mean, being a geek? Check. Having a baby? Check.
Harry Potter body paint
During the game festival First Look 2016 we met the very talented Karlijn Levering from Gamepaint.eu. At this event she was creating amazing gaming body paints. After the event Karlijn contacted us because of an article she read on the website written bij Marianne. The article was called ‘My Harry Potter Obsession’. Karlijn let us know that she was inspired by Marianne’s article and wanted to make a Harry Potter body paint piece with Marianne as a model. And wouldn’t you know it? The ladies hit it off and soon after Marianne was a guest on Karlijn’s body paint stream.
Hi Eva, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Hi everyone, I’m Eva, also known as nonamed92 on Twitch. I’m 25 years old and at the moment a 2nd year ICT Business student. In my spare time I like to play a lot of different games and stream them on my Twitch channel. I started gaming when I was about 9 years old, because at that time the Zelda and Pokémon series were a huge hype at school.
Hi there! My name is Marianne. I’m 27 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I’ve been given the status of a true Harry Potter geek by the founders of Girl Gamer Galaxy. And honestly I cannot disagree. I’m a proud collector of multiple Harry Potter items. I’ve bought all the video games on every console and own all the books in Dutch (my native language) and in English. I have all the Harry Potter movies on dvd and blue ray. I even own some Harry Potter clothing. Because, like the greatest wizard of all time Albus Dumbledore has taught us: ‘You can never own too many (Harry Potter) socks’!
Hi Debbie, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi everyone! My name is Debbie or ClumsyWolfy and I have been a streamer on Twitch for about a year now. But I’ve only started streaming on a more regular basis in the past few months. What I really like about streaming is the fact that I meet a lot of amazing people. And I hope to meet many more in the future. I love to play games with other gamers, so I play with my friends or invite viewers to come and join the game. I am 22 years old and have 2 cats called Ryu and Loki and a boyfriend ^^. At the moment I study to become a pastry baker and when I’m not at school I play games.
Why do you always play as a girl?
Questions, questions, questions, that’s all you can find on websites like Quora. About guinea pigs, household chores, dating and much more. But also questions about games. In these blogs we found the funniest, craziest and super serious questions about games. And we decided to answer one: What gender do you prefer? Well, we asked the girls from our community to help us with answering it by sharing their expertise with us.
Hi Denise, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I sure can! My name is Denise, a.k.a. Doornebuzz. At this time, I am 24 years old. Next to 24 years old, I am a (currently unemployed) licensed dietitian who practices the fine art of junk food; food being my first and foremost addiction. I think my video game addiction kicked in when Pokémon Red dropped. That game was hot fire. I remember getting lost in the Pokémon universe for hours. Since I was little, I’ve always had a vivid imagination. Which led me to writing stories of my own through The Sims 3. Nowadays, you can find me on Twitch. Either I’ll be watching someone create content, or creating content of my own. To this day, video games are still a passion of mine, with my latest obsessions being: The Sims 4 (obviously) and Dark Souls III. Because they’re just so very alike, you know?
Hi Roos can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Hi my name is Roos or Rose also known as Roosj. I am 29 years old. I have been playing games for as long as I can remember. I stumbled onto streaming and it looked pretty awesome, I’ve always liked talking to people in gaming communities and finding people to play various games with and just have fun together.
